City partners with Streetline to launch Parker™ in St. Petersburg, a Real-Time Parking Guidance App to Improve Access to the Edge District and Highlight Available Parking.

St. Petersburg, Fla. – October 5, 2017 – Drivers in the Edge District of St. Petersburg will now be able to find available on-street parking spaces in real time, as well as the locations of parking garages and lots, using Parker™ by Streetline, a mobile app for the iPhone and Android.

This partnership with Streetline means the city will receive detailed analytics that help it plan programs and set good parking policies. Merchants will be able to promote available parking around their establishments, and faster parking turnover will drive more visitors to their stores. Motorists will see the biggest benefit: According to an IBM study, parking is responsible for 30% of traffic and congestion in American cities. Real-time guidance to available parking will save drivers between 6-14 minutes finding parking, which in turn will reduce carbon emissions for the city, increase economic productivity, and less cars driving will increase safety for pedestrians and cyclists. These benefits can accrue even if a city has parking spaces that are available, if motorists were not previously aware of the location of available parking spaces.

“We have available parking downtown, but it’s just not always available right were people want to park,” Evan Mory, Director of Transportation and Parking Management said. “We feel like this will really help with that perception issue.”

Some of the features of Streetline’s products include: – Turn-by-turn route navigation from Parker automatically directs consumers to open parking spaces near their destination. This saves them time and frustration in driving, and benefits St Petersburg by having fewer cars on the road. – Real Time published parking availability with Parker Map lets downtown businesses promote parking around their stores, increase their digital presence and drive more visitors to the area. – Customizable analytics in ParkSight with current and historical data on parking occupancy, duration of stay and turnover lets the city of St. Petersburg make smart policy and pricing decisions in its parking programs, leading to a more efficient transportation system. -Published data feeds of parking availability with ParkEdge lets Garage and lot owners share price, policy, and parking availability information from sensors, payment systems or via manual estimates in real-time, to be displayed in Parker and ParkerMap for drivers.

Streetline’s sensors are embedded in the pavement and detect when spaces are available. They send this data Streetline’s system, which in turn publishes that data to provide the location and availability of on-street spaces in real-time, as well as locations, rates, and hours of garages and lots.

“Installation will create minimal impact to existing parking,” said CEO of Streetline CEO Manny Krakaris. “It takes just five or six minutes to install one sensor and then about an hour for the epoxy used to place it in the street to dry.”

Streetline’s parking solutions have been successfully implemented in a number of other cities including Sarasota, Ocala, Los Angeles, Indianapolis, New Brunswick, Reno, NV, and Washington, DC.
